24

24, a magic number that gives equity to everyone.
No matter how smart you are, you only have 24 hours per day.
24, also make today special to me. I am delighted to be part of the 24er's group.

Looking back, I can summarize my 23 age by 2 words: roller coaster.
It was the best of the time, it was the worst of my life.
Sometimes I felt like being the most blessed in the world:
I found my meaning of life, and someone that I loved.
While all of a sudden, I was doomed.
I lost my motivation, meaning and focus of life.
Whatever I obtained in the past is being taken out bit-by-bit.
It feels like someone is cutting you up piece by piece mentally.

Despite, I am glad that I had a group of friends to support me :)
To hang out/drink beer with me, and give me advice when I feel lost.
Without you ( sorry that due to fd quota I cannot tag all of you :( ) , I cannot pass through this tough time. Thanks!

To start my 24 right, let me make a few things that I want to accomplish:
1. Discipline: Reduce deviation of daily targets to 20%. Achieve 80% of the monthly learning goal.
2. Refine my time management skills: Plan 2 weeks ahead for events, and 2 days ahead for schedule
3. Friends and family. Do not shut down myself easily because of work/study. Always care about my friends.
4. Exercise weekly!!! Jogging, gym, table-tennis or badminton (anyone interested?)
5. Improve writing: Organize my thought better with expanded vocab. Reinitialize daily vocab learning list. Write a piece of article monthly on facebook/ google blog.
6. Financial analysis: Analyze a company report monthly, and my portfolio returns needs to beat HSI!!
7. Learnt 12 new guitar songs.

There are lots of way to express 24 in different language.
But for me, 24 means 7 targets, with 365 days to complete it.
My promise to my 24th.

Sleep

Recently, thanks to a mysterious mosquito haunting my face and lots of minds keep flowing out, so it is hard for me to fall asleep.
So, I tried the following methods today, hope it works.

Cumulative Game

Out of thin air this noun "flash forward" in my mind after reading an article a few days ago, a cumulative game means that there exist lots of round in a game which consequences is accumulated and bring forward to the next game, so every player starts in a different situation. The winner of the previous round will keep abusing the advantage of previous round, and keep utilize it to win this round. In Hong Kong terms, we already know that in a similar way named 屈機, which achieve the same aim in a slight different way.

I wish I can read this article earlier, then I can understand the broader impact of one's decision.
then at least I can do smarter decision, or at least think twice before doing "not so smart" moves.
I wish I can study language better,
I hope I can take care more about my health and my feeling,
I fancy I can pick up a sports/ hobby and master it...
These can change the whole game, place me in a better position and have a favorable outcome.

But, I still hold the believe of the end of darkness is sunniness (Otherwise there will not be a nickname of DarkSunny) . That's why even you are putting the first half of your life in a damn worse condition, you can still make it shines like a star (though the way will be longer). A long long way to go, still I am happy I am walking to it, slowly, slowly.. but reachable.. the law of large number is my friend, so never give up, keep trying!!

Actually..... I am quite happy with my current situation, out of my randomness gut-feeling choices :D Yeah... I am a typical Gemini, not in the extrovert way, but in the double, tripple or even poly face way.

Alternative Library

Haven't read dfdfReader'sDigest for ages since I left Hong Kong.
But I enjoy reading it because every time you read it, you feed your brain with some new ideas.
Like this one mentioned in its article : Footpath Library (http://www.footpathlibrary.org/about.html), which is opened in Sydney.

This "library" ,doesn't like others in a building, is set up on a street. People can freely borrow the book at the library at every Tuesday night. So that the homeless people can find some meaningful way to spend their time, and have a place to mingle with others people.

I recall a similar act in a foreign country. When people finish reading a book, they write their name on the first page of the book, then just left it on the public transport(bus, train, ferry etc..) . The books will then wait other passengers to "adopt" it , and write their name on it.
The whole idea is also written on the first few pages, so people can easily grab this idea and pass it on when they finish. There is even a website to let you trace the book that you left on train! (But as usual, I forget it )

Lots of ways to treat the old books/magazines, but I wonder how many of these methods really work in Hong Kong? People gonna re-sell that for profit, or the police will charge the people with "road blocking" or "Littering" and I doubt how many HK people will really read a book when they have time except PSP, NDS, Facebook or Online game (myself included lol) ......

By the way, anyone interested in reading my piles of TIMES and FORBES with 50cm tall??
Brand new (in plastic bags) , issued around Sep 2009.

Recognized

Today I finally can find my boss for a feedback session,
surprisely the feedback is out of my expectation , all of my team, supervisor and even client are giving me excellent to very excellent grading :) I am happy my boss can know how much effort that I put in the team, but still I need to be more active in updating my progress to my supervisor..

But still.... right now I am trading performance with my learning opportunties...
Hopefully I can take something useful out of it.

Anyway... It is strange that I can learn so much about China in India ;)

An Unlucky week

This week seems to be quite unlucky for me:
1. Loose my debt card, seems I left it in the ATM . Stupid design that get the money first and the card comes out after ages
2. Loose my roomate, he is going to move out soon....
3. Loose my heatlh, I am sick because of the virus fever, and being stuck at room for 5 days

Every life has its ups and downs....... seems that not only the stock Hxbc is having bad luck, me too .....
